KosherScan is an app that allows users to quickly check if grocery products are kosher certified by scanning the barcode. The app's database is populated with answers provided directly by participating rabbis.
How does it work?
Simply use your phone's camera to scan a product's barcode. KosherScan will instantly show if that item has been certified kosher by your chosen supervising rabbi, including any specifics like Kosher For Passover, Chalav Yisroel, etc.
What if a product is not in the database?
If you scan an item not yet listed, you can submit it through the app for your rabbi to review and certify. Their kosher ruling will then be added to the database for everyone.
Who verifies the products?
All product answers come directly from participating Orthodox rabbis. Each user chooses which rabbi(s) they wish to follow within the app.
Is there a cost?
The app is free to download and use, with some premium upgrade options available. Free accounts include limited product questions per month.
How do I get my Rabbi to participate?
If your rabbi is not yet participating, you can contact us to invite them to join the KosherScan network.
How can I get involved or give feedback?
We're always looking for more rabbis and certifying agencies to contribute data. Users can also submit product requests and general feedback through the app.
